What we feel is good regarding any object. Is the goodness really in the object or in our perception.
Of late had three completely different scenarios where what I had considered as good, because of a different level of knowledge turned to be bad. The object was the same, it has not changed, only my perception. Very interesting . The way i look at the same object, earlier ( associating with good) and latter ( associating with bad ) becomes totally different.
The three different object, with the same common lesson.
1 ) Eucylptus trees.
Earlier generally whenever I see trees, used to feel happy that its part of nature, giving us rains, protecting the soils,..... After participating in the kumudavathi river rejuvenation project, and hearing lecture from water experts got to know that euclyptus trees are very harmful to the water table, that it sucks 80 liters of water per day for its survival, and the water table goes very low becase of this. Its not suitable for our climatic conditions.
So whenever I see these trees instead of feeling happy, feeling agitated.
2 ) Meswak toothpaste
Earlier, was using Meswak toothpaste, fooled by the Dabur company ad that its pure herbal extract. Last week saw a posting in facebook that if we look at the bottom strip of the toothpaste, the color coding which was Black for Meswak, tells us that it is pure chemical. Even colgate which i generally used to associate with bad toothpastes, turned out to be better a combination of natural and chemical. So now shifted to "good" tooth powder and getting whither teeth also.
3 ) Allopathic medicines
I think most of the population is using these allopathic (English) medicines for their common and severe health problems. Now reading a book by a senior allopathic doctor which explains clearly the flaws of the medicine system, and how the medicines they give only sustains and strengthens the diseases !!!Though I generally don't take these medicines , but was not averse to these medicines earlier. After reading the book the same medicines are seen like poison.
So the point of this blog is What is good , What is bad ?. Is it in the object or in our perception. What ever logically we conclude as good, can be by other logic be concluded as bad also. Object has not changed. Maybe after some time I can get a total different understanding of the three objects.
While reading the Bible/Koran and also having the thought that, the entire religion is just based on being good, and avoid bad. But as described above good and bad is all relative , and based on the perception.
How to go beyond the good and bad.
Maybe that's what in aol course its given as a beautiful point "accept situations/people" as they are. Objects/people remain the same. The labels we associate with them keeps on changing....... By just accepting the object/situation/person as it is, we go beyond the good/bad drama of the mind.
