Some things have to be done

Of late my elder daughter keeps saying "I don't like it", for things she does'nt want to do. e.g eating some specific vegetables,  doing morning surya namaskar, reading,....  Maybe she is getting it from her friends, these ideas.  I was just silent for some time.

One day when she was all prepared for her skating class, which she likes very much.  My duty was to drop and pick her up.  I started the strike, "I don't like it to drop you and pick you up"
After a  lots of tantrums and shouting,  I went with her.  Then told her, there are many things in life you have to do, even though you don't like.  Hopefully she got the message.

Then later realised this knowledge has not gone into many adults heads also, things like exercising , working, cooking, staying with spouse,....   These things have to be done, whether you like it or not,  for the long term benefit !!!!!!!

Punishment

One day my little one dhiya had expressed her creativity and drawing skill on my car seat with a ball point pen.  So told her this is not correct, and this calls for punishment. A new word in her dictonary. luckily for me, she accepted it.  So argument went on what should be the Punishment.  I allowed her to choose the punishment, after giving options.

I suggested that "we will all go to a ice cream shop,  and all of us will eat ice cream and dhiya will just watch".
This was not accepted, had many other options. Finally my wife (wanting to reduce her task)  suggested, that dhiya will eat on her own for next ten days.   So now the punishment has become like a play, and again hopefully she learnt that when she does something wrong, she needs to be punished.
